You Were Never Limited
A quiet reflection on why the feeling of limitation is not what it seems.
A Familiar Feeling
Have you ever felt:
“I am small.”
“I am limited.”
“I am just one person.”
It feels obvious.
Almost unquestionable.
Where Does This Feeling Come From?
It seems to come from
what you take yourself to be.
A body.
A mind.
A separate individual
in a large world.
A Simple Example
Vedanta offers
a very simple way to look at this.
There is space
inside a pot.
And There Is Space Outside
There is also space
outside the pot.
We even give them names:
“pot-space”
and “room-space.”
But Pause for a Moment
Is the space inside the pot
actually different?
Or does it only seem different
because of the pot?
What Really Happened?
The pot did not create space.
It did not divide space.
It only created
an appearance of separation.
Now Take It One Step Further
When the pot breaks,
what happens to the space inside?
Does it disappear?
Or was it never truly separate
to begin with?
The Key Insight
Nothing happens to space.
Only the boundary disappears.
Bringing It Back to Yourself
In the same way,
the body and mind
are like the pot.
What You Call “Me”
What you call “me”
seems limited
because it is seen
through the body and mind.
So it feels like:
“I am here.”
“I am this person.”
But Look More Carefully
Awareness is like space.
It is not created by the body.
It is not contained
inside the mind.
Then Why Do You Feel Limited?
Because you identify
with the container.
You take the “pot”
to be yourself.
The Subtle Shift
The moment attention shifts
from the body and mind
to awareness itself—
something interesting happens.
Nothing Changes… Yet Everything Does
Your life continues.
The body functions.
Thoughts appear.
The world is experienced.
But the sense of limitation
loosens.
What Actually Changed?
Not reality.
Only the misunderstanding.
The Quiet Truth
Awareness was never divided.
It never became smaller.
It never became “you”
as a separate piece.
It Only Seemed That Way
Because of the “pot.”
Because of identification.
Reflection
Are you living
as a limited container—
or as the space
that was never divided?
